Fakhar Zaman Fined and Given Demerit Point for Code of Conduct Breach

Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk) — Pakistan’s opening batsman Fakhar Zaman has been penalized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating the Code of Conduct during the final of the Tri-Nation Series against Sri Lanka.

According to the ICC statement, Fakhar Zaman expressed disagreement and argued with the umpire’s decision after being dismissed at a crucial stage of the match. This behavior was classified as a breach of Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which falls under Level One, relating to on-field discipline and respect for umpire decisions.

As a result, the ICC has imposed a fine of 10% of his match fee and added one demerit point to his disciplinary record. Under ICC rules, accumulating four demerit points within two years can result in a one-match suspension, making this a cautionary measure to ensure future discipline.

The incident occurred when Zaman was given out LBW by the umpire. He challenged the decision and expressed his objection in a strong tone. Following the umpire’s report, the match referee reviewed the evidence and issued the sanction.

The ICC also announced nominations for Player of the Month, including Pakistani players.

Fans have reacted to Fakhar Zaman’s actions, but the ICC reiterated that maintaining discipline and respecting umpire decisions is mandatory for all players during matches. The ruling serves as a reminder for Zaman to strictly adhere to the Code of Conduct in future games to avoid further penalties or suspensions.
