Metro53 - GUJRAT: A violent clash between two armed groups erupted near Bhandar Bela in the jurisdiction of Kakrali police station on Thursday, leading to heavy gunfire and the arrest of a prime suspect in injured condition.
According to police, the exchange of fire intensified when both sides opened fire on each other and also targeted the police team that rushed to the spot. Fortunately, no police personnel were hurt during the incident.
A suspect identified as Danish Ali, son of Amanat Ali, a resident of Kakrali, sustained injuries during the crossfire and was taken into custody. Police said he was the ringleader of one of the groups and had been wanted in at least 11 criminal cases.
A 9mm pistol was recovered from his possession, which the police described as an illegal weapon. He was shifted to ABS Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
In his initial statement, the suspect confessed that he and his associates, including a man identified as Imran Nazir alias Mani, were engaged in an armed clash when he was shot.
Police said the process of identifying other suspects involved in the incident is underway and all those responsible will be brought to justice.
