Metro53 - LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department has decided to extend its outsourcing policy to middle schools following the outsourcing of primary-level institutions, officials said on Sunday.

According to the department, decisions regarding school closure or outsourcing will be made on the basis of the 2025 school census. Schools declared structurally unsafe will be shut down immediately, while institutions with poor facilities and weak performance will be outsourced.

Officials said schools meeting certain standards may be included in the “Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence” category as part of a broader reform initiative.

The department added that schools with enrolment between 100 to 150 students are being considered for outsourcing. It further stated that nearly 13,000 schools have already been outsourced under previous phases of the programme.

Authorities said the move aims to improve educational standards and ensure more efficient use of resources across the province.
