Metro53 - GUJRAT: Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar visited the homes of martyred constables Fayyaz Ali and Umar Aftab in Gujrat to offer condolences and express solidarity with their families.
DPO Gujrat Akhtar Farooq and other senior police officers accompanied the IG Punjab during the visits.
The police chief met the parents, children and other family members of the martyrs, offered Fateha and prayed for the elevation of their ranks. He also expressed affection towards the children and assured the bereaved families that Punjab Police would never forget the sacrifices rendered by its personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, the IG Punjab said police officials who sacrificed their lives while protecting the lives and property of citizens were a source of pride for the entire force.
He said special attention would be given to the welfare of the martyrs’ families and every possible support would be provided for the education and upbringing of their children.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, Constables Fayyaz Ali and Umar Aftab embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire with suspects while performing duty.
Police said the late Fayyaz Ali is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters, while Umar Aftab leaves behind his parents and five sisters.
