Metro53 - GUJRAT: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain on Wednesday inaugurated the long-awaited Service Mor Flyover in Gujrat, a project that had faced delays of nearly three to four years before becoming operational.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Noor ul Ain Qureshi along with members of a Chinese delegation associated with the project.
According to officials, the one-kilometre-long flyover was completed at a cost of approximately Rs2.463 billion. Authorities said the infrastructure project is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Hussain said street lights would be installed on the flyover within the next two to three weeks, while work on improving the surrounding sewerage system was already under way.
He further stated that funds had been released for the development of the Small Industrial Estate, adding that a treatment plant was also being installed to manage waste generated by the ceramics industry.
The provincial minister said renovation and beautification work at the Small Industrial Estate building was continuing, adding that the government remained committed to resolving civic issues and promoting industrial growth in the district.
