Metro53 - KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday said the state would be held responsible if any untoward incident occurred to him, claiming he had received advice against attending a public gathering in Karachi.
Addressing a party rally, the veteran politician said he had been advised not to participate in the event due to security concerns but decided to attend regardless.
“Whoever harms me, I will not seek revenge against them, but the responsibility for any unpleasant incident involving me will lie with the state,” he told supporters during his speech.
Mr Rehman also asserted that other political parties should learn politics from the JUI-F rather than attempting to lecture his party on political affairs. He added that the party’s manifesto was based on the establishment of an Islamic bloc.
The JUI-F chief did not elaborate on the nature of the threats or identify any individuals or groups behind the warnings.
