Metro53 - PESHAWAR: Faisal Karim Kundi met Sohail Afridi at the Governor House in Peshawar, where both sides discussed the overall situation in the province, law and order, and other key administrative matters.

During the meeting, discussions were also held regarding the closure of CNG stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the issue of wheat transportation from Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said the suspension of CNG operations in the province was a violation of constitutional rights and argued that the decision was severely affecting low-income citizens.

He stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could obtain wheat from Sindh if Punjab provided transit access, adding that the lack of a transport corridor was forcing the province to purchase wheat at higher prices. He further said the Sindh government was willing to supply wheat to the province.

The meeting was also attended by Speaker of the Provincial Assembly Babar Saleem Swati, newly elected provincial minister Shafi Jan and Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah.

Participants also discussed arrangements for the South Asia Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians Conference, which is set to be hosted in the province for the first time.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi described the event as an honour for the province and said it marked an important milestone in the parliamentary history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The issue of increasing salaries and benefits for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police also came under discussion during the meeting.

The governor directed the chief secretary to review salaries and incentives being offered to police personnel in other provinces and submit recommendations to the provincial government accordingly.
