Metro53 - Hyderabad (Web Desk) — The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has signalled its willingness to host Pakistan Super League (PSL) fixtures as well as international matches at Niaz Stadium, the only major cricket venue in interior Sindh.
PCB Director Domestic, Khurram Niazi, visited Niaz Stadium and noted that the ground’s condition has improved significantly, with floodlights already installed.
He said that if the Hyderabad mayor finalises an agreement to hand over the stadium to the PCB, work to upgrade the venue to international standards would begin immediately.
Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro has assured the PCB that the stadium will be handed over for redevelopment.
Cricket fans said that the PCB can restore Niaz Stadium to international standards and reopen its doors for major cricket events, provided there is seriousness and practical effort.
Niaz Stadium holds a unique place in Pakistan’s cricketing history. The national team has remained unbeaten at this venue, last defeating Zimbabwe in January 2008 to maintain its perfect record.
