Metro53 - Peshawar (Web Desk) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi has said that individuals who have no role in politics are nevertheless interfering in provincial affairs.

Speaking at a joint gathering of police personnel and civil officers, the chief minister said the province continued to face extraordinary circumstances, having been on the frontline of terrorism for four decades. He noted that the KP Police had resisted terrorism for 21 years despite limited resources, and said their sacrifices were a source of national pride.

“The courage with which you confront terrorists is commendable,” he said. “If we act for the sake of Allah and in the interest of the people, the outcome will be in our favour. Peace will be restored in KP at all costs. Decisions taken behind closed doors will no longer be accepted.”

Afridi said bulletproof vehicles, modern weaponry and anti-drone systems were being provided to the police, along with rapid deployment of the latest technology. He added that resource constraints would not be allowed to hinder security operations. A special policy, he said, would be introduced for the families of martyred civil servants, while political interference in administrative matters would not be tolerated, though performance would be strictly monitored.

Reiterating zero tolerance for corruption, he said an open-door policy had been adopted for the public, and government officers’ performance would be assessed through key indicators. “With faith, resolve and determination, we will defeat terrorism,” he added.

The gathering was attended by the chief secretary, inspector general of police, additional chief secretaries, administrative secretaries, divisional and district officers, and a large number of police personnel. Fateha was offered for the martyrs of the police and civil administration.

Afridi said it was “unfortunate” that some individuals with no political mandate were still interfering. “Those responsible for delivering justice often fail to do so, which worsens matters,” he remarked. He added that the provincial government intended to provide public relief in line with Imran Khan’s vision, and that all decisions would be taken in the public interest.
