Metro53 - KARACHI: Google has released its list of the most searched topics in Pakistan for the year 2025, highlighting trends across seven major categories: cricket, athletes, local news, technology, recipes, “how-to” queries, and dramas.

The rankings were compiled by analysing billions of searches throughout the year to identify subjects of highest interest among users.

Cricket: The Pakistan vs South Africa match emerged as the most searched cricketing event, followed by Pakistan Super League, Asia Cup, Pakistan vs India, Pakistan vs New Zealand, India vs England, Pakistan vs West Indies, India vs Australia, ICC Champions Trophy, and Pakistan vs UAE.

Athletes: Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma topped searches for athletes, followed by Hassan Nawaz, Irfan Khan Niazi, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Abbas, Saeem Ayub, Yasir Khan, Kasht Ali, Saif Hassan, and Abdu Samad.

Local News: Searches were dominated by topics such as the Punjab Social Economic Registry, Karachi floods, Iran-related news, Asan Karobar Card, Chenab River flooding, Federal Board matric results, Karachi Board matric results, Prime Minister’s laptop scheme, gold prices in Pakistan, and the Class 9 exam schedule.

Technology: Google Gemini ranked highest, followed by Tamasha, DeepSeek, MyCo, On4T, Google AI Studio, Claude, iPhone 17, Grok, and NFTs.

Recipes: Sandwich recipes topped the list, followed by food fusion, quinoa, dough, desserts, mutton, easy recipes, tofu, soup, and beef recipes.

How-To Searches: The most searched queries included checking Karachi e-challans, unsending Instagram messages, car insurance, investing in the crypto market, stock market tips, applying for credit cards, creating Ghibli-style photos, selecting the best lawyer, printing from a phone, and uploading blogs.

The trends reveal that Pakistani users relied heavily on Google not only for sports updates and technology news, but also for local affairs, culinary guidance, and practical instructions.
