Metro53 - Rawalpindi (Web Desk) — Pakistan’s Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has declared PTI founder Imran Khan a “mental patient” and an “internal national security threat” during a press conference on Monday.
The DG ISPR said the purpose of the briefing was to highlight a serious internal threat facing Pakistan. He stated that the PTI founder “believes nothing exists beyond his own self,” adding that such a mindset has now become a national security concern and is being supported by external elements.
He said that according to the logic of a “mentally unstable person,” during a potential attack by India, he would “beg for talks with a bowl in his hand.” He added that the PTI founder is “a prisoner of his own ego” who believes, “If I don’t exist, nothing else does.” The DG ISPR claimed that the individual’s statements and tweets serve as the primary narrative later amplified by social media accounts and Indian media.
He noted that Indian channels eagerly broadcast such statements and that questions must be asked about who provides such news to Indian outlets, which “jump on it immediately.”
Referring to criticism targeting military leadership, DG ISPR said that PTI-linked accounts and certain individuals appear encouraged by Indian media. He said that a recent tweet by the PTI founder was also part of the same pattern.
He further stated that the press conference aimed to address an internal threat: “A person who believes nothing exists beyond himself, not even Pakistan, has now become a national security threat and is working with external elements.”
The DG ISPR maintained that Pakistan’s armed forces do not represent any political ideology. However, he asserted that if anyone attacks the military or its leadership, the institution will respond. “What law allows meetings with a convicted criminal who then creates an anti-state and anti-military narrative?” he asked, adding that the individual encourages halting remittances to push Pakistan toward default.
He alleged that whenever someone meets this person, he “immediately spreads an anti-Pakistan and anti-military narrative,” ignoring constitutional and legal boundaries. He questioned whether someone attacking Pakistan’s military is attempting to create space for another country’s forces. “This is the same army standing between terrorists and the people,” he said.
The DG ISPR emphasized that inciting the public against the military will not be allowed. “We respect all political leaders and parties. Do your politics but keep the army out of it,” he said, adding that no wedge between the people and the military will be permitted.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces do not represent any religious, political, or sectarian ideology. “Nothing is above the state of Pakistan. His desires and ego have grown so much that he says, ‘If I am not here, nothing exists.’ Politics is over — his narrative has become a threat to national security.
