Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk) – On the directions of Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority, Rizwan Saeed, large-scale food safety inspections were carried out across the district. The purpose of these operations was to ensure the supply of quality and safe food to citizens and to improve overall food safety standards.
Inspections and Notices
A total of 70 food outlets were inspected during the operation. Of these, 18 establishments were issued improvement notices to enhance the quality of their food preparation and sale. This action highlights the Food Authority’s priority of protecting public health.
Fines and Penalties
Six establishments were fined during the operation, with total penalties amounting to Rs84,000. These fines serve as a warning to businesses and aim to prevent future violations.
Disposal of Unsafe and Prohibited Food
The Food Authority also confiscated and destroyed 15.2 kilograms of prohibited and substandard food items. This measure was taken to ensure that only safe and quality food is available to the public, reducing health risks and food poisoning incidents.
