Metro53 - New Delhi (Web Desk): The lives of two childhood friends in India changed dramatically when they discovered a valuable diamond while working in a field.

The incident took place in the Panna district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, where 24-year-old Satish Khatik and 23-year-old Sajid Mohammad found a 15.3-carat diamond during routine farm work.

The Panna Diamond Office later confirmed that the discovered diamond is genuine and is valued at approximately 6 million Indian rupees (more than 18.7 million Pakistani rupees).

According to officials, the diamond will be sold in the coming days through a government-controlled auction. Under existing rules, 88 percent of the auction proceeds will be given to the discoverers of the diamond, while 12 percent will go to the government.

Such auctions in Panna district are held every three months under official supervision.

Both Satish and Sajid belong to poor families; one works as a butcher while the other earns a living as a fruit vendor.

Speaking to local media, they said they would use the money to improve their lives, adding that their first priority would not be buying property but arranging the marriages of their sisters.

It is worth noting that Panna district is considered a well-known diamond belt in India, where diamonds have been discovered several times in the past, making it an important center for diamond exploration.
