Metro53 - Dhaka (Web Desk): Protests in Bangladesh against alleged Indian-backed terrorism and interference continue unabated, with demonstrators reaching areas close to the Indian border. India’s alleged role in destabilizing Bangladesh and its patronage of proxy Sheikh Hasina has reportedly sparked widespread public anger.
According to The Indian Express, an alert has been issued at Petrapole, the largest land port between Bangladesh and India, due to ongoing protests. Demonstrators from the Bangladeshi side entered the “no man’s land” near Petrapole and raised strong anti-India slogans.
The report further stated that following the death of young leader Sharif Usman Hadi, an alert has also been issued for Indian truck drivers in the Benapole port area. Protesters in Bangladesh also staged a strong demonstration outside the residence of the Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Chattogram.
The Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier demanded that India hand over those involved in the murderous attack on Sharif Usman Hadi.
India has long been accused of regional destabilization, state-sponsored terrorism, and internal interference. The people of Bangladesh, having recognized what they describe as the alleged conspiracies and patronage of killers by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have now taken to the streets in open resistance against what they call India’s brutality.
