Metro53 - Sydney (Web Desk): England cricket team’s Managing Director Rob Key has assured an investigation following reports of excessive alcohol consumption by England players during their tour of Australia.
Ahead of the Adelaide Test against Australia, England players spent their break in Queensland, where reports emerged of players drinking excessively at the popular beach destination of Noosa.
Speaking to the media, Rob Key said that the matter would be reviewed to determine the actual situation. He stated that if players were found to have consumed alcohol excessively, the issue would be addressed seriously.
Rob Key emphasized that such behavior is not expected from England players, adding that the team is generally known for maintaining good conduct. He noted that he had also heard positive feedback about the players’ behavior during the break.
He further stated that he had read reports regarding players’ conduct and alcohol consumption, and if the allegations are true, such behavior would be unacceptable. However, he clarified that there is no objection to the Noosa trip itself.
Rob Key also expressed his support for head coach Brendon McCullum, describing him as a good coach with a strong Test record.
