Metro53 - Mumbai (Web Desk) – Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have confirmed the release of Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their squad.

According to the franchise, the decision to release the player was made following directives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and was carried out after due consultation and completion of the required procedure.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that Kolkata Knight Riders were instructed to separate Mustafizur Rahman from the squad. He said that in light of recent developments, the BCCI issued directions to the franchise, asking them to release one of their players, Mustafizur Rahman.

It is worth noting that KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan had come under intense criticism following the inclusion of Mustafizur Rahman in the IPL squad. Extremist groups had labeled the renowned actor a traitor over the decision.

During the auction held in December, KKR had signed Mustafizur Rahman for INR 9.2 crore. Following his inclusion in the team, Shah Rukh Khan faced allegations of adopting anti-national policies.
