Metro53 - Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Faisal Kamran has revealed that Awais Sultan, the student who jumped from a building at the University of Lahore, was suffering from mental health issues.

According to the DIG, a meeting was held with Awais Sultan’s parents, during which it was learned that the student was facing mental stress and lack of attention, which led him to take the extreme step. He stated that, so far, no individual or institution has been found responsible for the incident. Investigations are ongoing, and the facts will be brought to light soon.

Speaking on a private TV channel program, DIG Faisal Kamran also discussed the alleged suicide attempt of 21-year-old student Fatima. He said that the girl is injured and currently under treatment at the hospital. She sustained fractures in her legs, while reports of a serious head injury are not true.

He added that repeated suicide attempts by students from the same department raise questions about the role of parents, students, and university administration. However, in Fatima’s case, issues such as fees, attendance, or administrative strictness have not come to light. Further facts will be known once the student regains consciousness.
