Inquiry Clears Lahore University in Awais Sultan Suicide Case

Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk): The report of a four-member inquiry committee formed to investigate the suicide of student Awais Sultan at a Lahore university has been made public.

According to a private TV channel, Samaa News, the inquiry report stated that Awais Sultan had complete attendance in all subjects, while his attendance in one subject was recorded at 68 percent. The report revealed that the student had been suffering from psychological issues for a long period but had not sought any kind of counseling.

The inquiry further stated that Awais Sultan was addicted to online gaming and rarely went outside his home. It was also reported that on one occasion, a female teacher marked him absent and stopped him from appearing in an exam due to not wearing a lab coat. The situation escalated to the point where Awais Sultan broke down in tears in the classroom, after which the teacher marked his attendance.

According to the Punjab Higher Education Commission’s inquiry report, Awais Sultan had been suffering from mental health issues for a long time and committed suicide of his own free will. The report concluded that there was no pressure of any kind on the student.
