Metro53 - Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has been forced to step back from plans to attack Iran and from attempts to seize Greenland.
Due to pressure from NATO allies, President Trump said he would not use force against Greenland. Addressing a gathering in Davos, he stated that a preliminary understanding had been reached with NATO regarding the future of Greenland, and that tariffs set to take effect from February 1 had been withdrawn.
He said the decision was made after a meeting with the NATO Secretary General in Davos. Earlier, Trump had said that NATO had two options — yes or no — adding that a “yes” would be welcomed, while a “no” would be remembered by the United States. He had also stated that the US would build a Golden Dome defense system in Greenland.
Trump once again mentioned having stopped eight wars, including a Pakistan-India conflict. He also expressed hope that no further action would be taken against Iran and claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin had accepted an invitation to join the Board of Peace. However, President Putin said he was still considering the matter
