Kedarnath Haveli was constructed in 1905 by Lala Kedarnath, a wealthy Hindu citizen of Gujrat and an honorary magistrate of his time. The building spans an area of four kanals and nineteen marlas and consists of 25 spacious rooms. Due to its unique architectural style, Kedarnath Haveli has long been considered one of the city’s most prominent historical structures.
The architectural design of the haveli is a remarkable blend of Greek and Roman styles, featuring tall pillars, wide verandas, and intricate decorative work that still reflects the grandeur of the past. Over time, the building has been used as Fatima Jinnah College; however, its historical and cultural significance has always remained intact.
According to the district administration, the objective of this project is to highlight Gujrat’s historical identity, reconnect the public with their cultural heritage, and promote tourism potential. Through modern lighting, key parts of the building have been illuminated in a way that clearly showcases its original beauty and architectural features.
This initiative was carried out under the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Gujrat, Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi, while the project was successfully implemented under the supervision and efforts of Assistant Commissioner Gujrat, Abdul Qadir Zarkoon. District officials stated that similar steps will continue in the future to preserve and beautify other historical sites in Gujrat.
Citizens and heritage enthusiasts have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that such projects will not only strengthen the city’s identity but also help introduce future generations to their rich historical past.
