Search Operations on Rooftops, Suspects Arrested
According to police officials, Jhelum Police conducted rooftop search operations in different localities, during which two suspects were arrested for possessing kites and deadly kite strings. The operation was carried out by Sohawa Police Station, where a large quantity of kites was recovered from the suspects. Police stated that the accused were illegally storing kites and strings, thereby committing a criminal offense.

Cases Registered, Investigations Underway
Separate cases have been registered against the arrested suspects, while the recovered kites and deadly strings have been taken into police custody. Authorities said further investigations are underway to trace other individuals involved in this illegal activity.

New Law and Strict Punishments
Police officials said that under the new law, those involved in the illegal manufacturing, storage, supply, or possession of kites face heavy fines along with imprisonment of up to five years. The law has been introduced to curb this hazardous activity, as the deadly kite strings used in kite flying have proven to be fatal.

Statement by DPO Jhelum
District Police Officer Jhelum, Tariq Aziz Sandhu, stated that kite flying is a dangerous and deadly activity that poses serious threats to human lives. He emphasized that strict action would be taken without discrimination against violators of the law, and no leniency would be shown.

Campaign to Continue for Public Safety
The DPO further said that the crackdown against kite flying would be intensified to protect the lives and property of the public. He reaffirmed the commitment that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands, and Jhelum Police would continue operations until this menace is completely eradicated.
