Metro53 - Beijing (Web Desk): China has executed four more convicts linked to fraud and criminal centers operating in northern Myanmar, bringing the total number of executions in the case to 15.
According to international news agencies, the convicts were tried on charges including large-scale online fraud, telecom scams, drug trafficking, and murder. Chinese courts had sentenced them to death in November 2025, a verdict later upheld by the Supreme People’s Court, which approved their executions.
The individuals were members of a criminal group known as the “Bai Family,” which had established extensive telecom and online fraud operations in Myanmar’s Kokang region. The group was accused of running fake online schemes that defrauded Chinese citizens of more than 29 billion yuan (approximately 4.16 billion US dollars).
As a result of the financial losses, at least six Chinese citizens reportedly lost their lives, while several others were left in critical condition. The group was also involved in illegal gambling, kidnapping, drug trafficking, forced prostitution, and violent crimes.
Last week, China had also executed 11 other convicts linked to similar scam networks operating from Myanmar. These executions are part of China’s broader crackdown on cross-border fraud and telecom scam centers.
