US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker Celebrates Basant in Lahore

Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk): US Chargé d’Affaires to Pakistan, Natalie Baker, also celebrated the Basant festival in Lahore and wore traditional attire in line with the festive occasion.

A US diplomatic delegation, accompanied by Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb and Uzma Bukhari, participated in the Basant celebrations. Maryam Aurangzeb taught the American diplomats how to fly kites and briefed them about the decorations and other arrangements made for the festival.

The US Chargé d’Affaires, Consul General, and Under Secretary flew kites, while the delegation appreciated Lahori cuisine, culture, cultural heritage, and hospitality.

On the occasion, Maryam Aurangzeb said that cultural activities are an effective means of bringing nations closer and that Pakistan conveys a message of friendship through its traditions. She added that festivals like Basant highlight Pakistan’s positive and peaceful identity, and the US diplomatic delegation was introduced to the traditional sport of kite flying.

She further stated that friendly discussions were held with the US delegation in an informal environment, and such occasions play an important role in strengthening mutual trust and bilateral relations. She added that Pakistan remains connected to the world through its culture, hospitality, and message of peace.
