Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is awaiting a formal response from the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding issues related to the ICC T20 World Cup.

According to sources, following the Lahore meeting on the Pakistan–India match, the ICC’s response has gained critical importance. To resolve the matter, Pakistan and Bangladeshi officials have placed the responsibility squarely with the ICC.

Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja will share the meeting minutes with ICC Chairman Jay Shah and Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta. Sources say that any breakthrough on the World Cup issue is conditional upon the ICC’s reply.

Pakistan has played the role of a bridge between the ICC and Bangladesh. During the meeting, Pakistan did not ask for anything for itself but strongly raised its voice in support of Bangladesh.

Mohsin Naqvi emphasized making Bangladesh an equal stakeholder in international cricket and stressed ensuring the Indian team’s tour of Bangladesh in September. Pakistan demanded that Bangladesh be given its full share of World Cup revenue and that the ICC issue an apology to the Bangladesh cricket team and its fans.

Pakistan also demanded an increase in the number of Test Championship matches for Bangladesh and compensation for past injustices by awarding Bangladesh hosting rights for an ICC event.

During the meeting, assurances were sought from the ICC that no board member would be excluded from the World Cup due to government decisions, as happened in Bangladesh’s case, and that Indian dominance in cricket should be ended.

Pakistan further called for ensuring merit-based decisions within the ICC instead of growing Indian influence, and demanded that India be bound to fully adhere to the traditions and principles of the “gentleman’s game.”
