Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk):A special workshop aimed at enhancing professional capacity, promoting positive public behaviour, and providing counselling to police officers and personnel was held at Gujrat Police Lines. District Police Officer Rana Umar Farooq attended the workshop as the chief guest and delivered a detailed lecture on the principles of public-friendly policing.
The DPO emphasised that treating every citizen with politeness, patience, and respect during duty at police stations, checkpoints, offices, and police service centres is a primary responsibility of the police. He instructed officers and personnel to always begin conversations with a greeting and conclude interactions with courteous words such as “thank you” or “please.”
Rana Umar Farooq further directed that citizens should be addressed respectfully using titles like “you,” “sir,” or “respected,” while women should be addressed with honourable terms such as “mother,” “sister,” or “api.” He advised that visitors be provided seating with dignity, offered water or tea, listened to attentively, and that their issues be understood with empathy.
He stated that guiding the public effectively and strengthening professional conduct is not only a police duty but also the foundation of public trust. He added that a courteous, well-mannered, and helpful police force is essential to winning the hearts of citizens and maintaining lasting public confidence.
During the workshop, police officers and personnel participated in practical exercises and role-playing sessions to learn the principles of public-friendly policing. They pledged to perform their duties with respect, courtesy, and professionalism toward every citizen.
