Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk): Soon after returning home from Australia, players of the national hockey team openly expressed their frustration, revealing shocking details of mismanagement faced during the tour. The players shared with the nation the hardships they endured and the lack of basic facilities provided to them.

Pakistan hockey team captain Imad Butt strongly criticized the current management, stating that the players can no longer continue working under such conditions. He said the situation faced by the team was unbearable and caused severe mental stress to the players.

Addressing a press conference, Imad Butt said that during the tour, players were deprived of even basic facilities. “We had to prepare our own breakfast, wash our own dishes, and manage all daily affairs ourselves. How can any team be expected to perform at its best in such circumstances?” he said, adding that all players are united on this issue and fully aware of what they went through.

The captain further alleged that the management threatened players with bans if they raised their voices. He said it was shameful to even think about imposing bans on players who give their all for the country on the field.

Sharing details of the Australia tour, Imad Butt said that upon reaching Sydney, there were no arrangements in place and players had to wait on the streets for nearly 12 hours. Later, when the team arrived in Hobart, they were informed that hotel bookings had not been paid for, due to which check-in was denied. After a further delay of four to five hours, the team was shifted to Airbnb-style accommodation.

He warned that under the current circumstances, it has become extremely difficult for players to continue playing professionally, and if the issues are not resolved immediately, the consequences could be serious.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had taken notice of mismanagement in Pakistan hockey during the Australia tour. Despite the government providing a grant of Rs 250 million to the Pakistan Hockey Federation, national team players continued to suffer in Australia.

According to the Pakistan Sports Board, the prime minister has ordered an inquiry into the mismanagement, and investigations have already begun. Strict action will be taken against those found responsible.
