Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): A meeting of the Punjab Auqaf Board was held at the Auqaf House under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, during which a 12-point agenda was discussed. The board also reviewed the implementation of decisions taken in the previous meeting.
The board approved the restoration of the post of Director Finance and the creation of a new post of Director Agriculture Lease and Development. Approval was also granted for contract-based recruitment against Grade-18 posts of Auqaf Administrators. In addition, a 20 percent allowance for Auqaf Organization employees and an extension in the service period of contract employees were approved.
To equip students of Jamia Hajveria with modern education, the board approved agreements with universities including Lahore University of Management Sciences, University of the Punjab, University of Management and Technology, and other institutions. Under these agreements, madrassa students securing admission to these universities will be provided scholarships.
The board also approved the annual calendar of religious events organized by the Auqaf Department, including various activities during the holy month of Ramadan. Furthermore, under the downsizing policy, the abolition of 60 long-vacant posts was approved.
During the meeting, Secretary Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhutta was highly praised for the increase in revenue from cash boxes placed at shrines following departmental reforms. Addressing the meeting, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain stated that eliminating corruption from the Auqaf Department is his firm resolve.
Secretary Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhutta said effective measures have been taken to enhance departmental revenue and eradicate corruption. He emphasized strict action against those misusing departmental resources or embezzling offerings, stating that donations are a trust and no leniency will be shown to those who betray it.
The provincial minister also directed officials to expedite the digitization process of Auqaf affairs and improve the entrance of the Auqaf House. Progress on the renovation and beautification project of the Auqaf House was also reviewed. The meeting further approved several administrative and financial matters of the department. The agenda items were formally briefed by Secretary Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhutta, while Additional Secretary Auqaf, Director General Religious Affairs, directors, and board members attended the meeting.
