Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk): Significant progress has been made for urban facilities as WASA has officially started a major development project on Jalalpur Jattan Road. Deputy Commissioner Gujrat, Noor‑ul‑Ain, visited the project site along with WASA Managing Director Kashan Hafeez Butt to review the ongoing work.
During the visit, the MD of WASA briefed that work has begun on laying a 1500 mm diameter underground pipeline from Bole Bridge to Zahoor‑ul‑Ilahi Stadium. The pipeline is being installed to resolve longstanding sewage issues, with a target completion of approximately one and a half months. Authorities said all resources are being utilized to finish the project on schedule.
The briefing also revealed that a modern disposal station with a capacity of 100 cubic feet is being constructed within the stadium premises. This new infrastructure will significantly increase the sewage system’s capacity, improve drainage during rains, and provide relief to nearby communities.
Officials added that once the pipeline-laying phase is completed, the Highways Department will begin reconstruction of the road. This integrated plan ensures that underground infrastructure is completed before resurfacing, avoiding future excavation.
Upon completion, the project is expected to permanently solve sewage and deteriorated road issues for residential areas and markets along Jalalpur Jattan Road, from the courthouse to Bole Bridge. Deputy Commissioner Noor‑ul‑Ain instructed all relevant departments to maintain strict quality and pace, ensuring citizens receive facilities as soon as possible.
