Metro53 - Rome (Web Desk): A significant development has emerged in Pakistan‑Italy relations, as Italy announced over 10,000 visas for Pakistani skilled workers during a meeting between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Italian counterpart.

The meeting focused on cooperation in internal security, prevention of illegal immigration, human trafficking, and anti-narcotics efforts. The Italian Interior Minister stated that Italy aims to promote legal migration and, in this context, will issue more than 10,000 visas for Pakistani skilled labor to contribute to Italy’s economy.

Minister Matteo Piantedosi also indicated readiness to grant visa exemptions for holders of Pakistani diplomatic passports, building on prior discussions with practical measures now underway.

Both ministers emphasized preventing illegal migration. Mohsin Naqvi informed his Italian counterpart that Pakistan has strengthened surveillance at airports and maritime borders, resulting in a significant decrease in illegal migration. He also highlighted effective actions against human trafficking.

The Italian Interior Minister appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against illegal migration and drugs, and reaffirmed that both countries will expand cooperation in areas of shared interest. He emphasized strengthening bilateral ties to promote legal migration and enhance security collaboration.

Analysts say this development will create new employment opportunities for Pakistani skilled workers in Europe and further strengthen economic and security cooperation between the two nations.
