Metro53 - Tehran (Web Desk): Iran has officially announced the name of its new Supreme Leader, with Mojtaba Khamenei being selected as the country’s new Rahbar-e-Aala (Supreme Leader).
According to Iranian state media, the decision to appoint the Supreme Leader was made by the Assembly of Experts. During the meeting, a large majority of members voted in favor of Mojtaba Khamenei, electing him as Iran’s third Supreme Leader. He is the son of the late Ali Khamenei.
During the session of the Assembly of Experts, tributes were also paid to Ayatollah Khamenei and other martyrs, including students of the Minab school and members of the armed forces who lost their lives. Participants reaffirmed that despite difficult circumstances, a leadership vacuum would not be allowed to emerge in the country.
Officials of the Assembly of Experts stated that the selection of the Supreme Leader was completed swiftly to ensure stability in the country. They appealed to the public to pledge allegiance to the new leader and strengthen national unity.
According to the official report, despite attacks by hostile elements on offices of the Assembly of Experts, the election process continued without disruption and the new leader was chosen in accordance with all legal and religious requirements.
Meanwhile, security affairs expert Qamar Cheema said in a conversation with ARY News that a new Supreme Leader has been chosen in Iran after nearly four decades. According to him, several commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also support Mojtaba Khamenei.
Dr. Qamar Cheema added that earlier there were concerns about a possible leadership vacuum in Iran, but the new Supreme Leader is expected to continue his father’s mission. He further noted that United States and Israel may not accept this decision, but the selection of Iran’s leadership is an internal matter of the country and its institutions.
