Metro53 - GUJRAT (Web Desk): Former chief minister and central president of PTI Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi offered Eidul Fitr prayers at a local mosque in Gujrat on Wednesday, accompanied by several پارٹی رہنما.

Among those present were Rasikh Elahi, Mian Imran Masood, Usman Zahoor Elahi, Chaudhry Kashif Sandhu, Chaudhry Khalid Sandhu and Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed.

According to reports, Mr Elahi prayed for the safety and prosperity of the country and remembered Muslims martyred in regions including Gaza and Iran.

Speaking to the media, he extended Eid greetings to the nation and alleged that Imran Khan, founder of PTI, was being treated unjustly despite not harming anyone.

Referring to the previous general elections, he said that “divine support” had been witnessed and expressed hope that alleged electoral irregularities would eventually be addressed.

Mr Elahi urged the public to remain patient and steadfast, adding that political awareness among citizens had increased. He also criticised the government’s economic decisions and questioned certain expenditures.

Expressing concern over restrictions on family meetings with Imran Khan, he said that denying a prisoner access to family during illness was against both constitutional and international human rights principles.

He further emphasised the need for national unity, stating that the country required cohesion more than ever, and called for the release of political prisoners in accordance with the law.
