Metro53 - GUJRAT (Web Desk): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has removed two senior officials of the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office (FALO) in Gujrat following an inquiry into corruption allegations, sources said.

According to initial findings, action was taken against the Deputy Chief Protocol Officer and Assistant Protocol Officer Aamir Shaukat Goraya over charges of misconduct, abuse of authority and alleged involvement in irregularities.

Sources revealed that Muhammad Asad has been appointed as the new incharge of the Gujrat FALO on a temporary basis. He previously served in the لاہور region office.

The action reportedly follows an internal inquiry initiated after a theft incident involving Rs4 million at a residence linked to FALO officials earlier this month.

Meanwhile, citizens have alleged the existence of an agent mafia operating within the office, claiming that bribes ranging from Rs21,000 for processing cases and Rs3,000 to Rs5,000 per document verification were being charged. On average, around 500 files are processed daily at the office.

Residents have called on higher authorities to extend the crackdown to include corrupt officials and agents allegedly exploiting applicants.

Officials said further investigations are underway and more actions could follow based on the inquiry findings.
