Metro53 - Lahore (Web Desk) — Following the emergence of a video showing a competition taking place during a maternity surgery at Lady Willingdon Hospital, 15 hospital staff, including senior officers and doctors, have been suspended.

The suspended personnel include the Medical Superintendent (MS), Head of Department, Women Medical Officer, five PG trainees, and other staff members. The Health Department has ordered them to report to headquarters for further investigation.

Specialized Healthcare Secretary directed the suspension of MS Dr. Farah Inam and ordered her to report to the department. Similarly, Head of Department Dr. Uzma was suspended, along with Women Medical Officer Iqra Hafeez, charge nurses Iqra Zahid, Fawzia Rasheed, and staff member Haseeb ur Rehman.

Investigations revealed that recording and sharing videos of patients during surgery is not a first-time incident. The previous day, four female doctors had also been suspended following action by the Chief Minister’s complaint cell.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that violations of hospital SOPs would not be tolerated under any circumstances, and immediate action was taken against those responsible at Lady Willingdon Hospital.

Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood emphasized that such alleged actions represent a serious breach of medical ethics, disrespect for patient dignity, and a violation of professional conduct, all strictly prohibited under government regulations and hospital SOPs.
