Metro53 - Seventeen bodies of migrants have been recovered from a boat attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea near Greece. According to the Greek Coast Guard, the vessel capsized near the island of Crete. Two survivors were found in critical condition and have been shifted to a hospital.
According to international news agencies, the survivors reported that their boat was damaged due to bad weather, and they had no food or water during the ordeal. Local media reports that the incident had occurred two days earlier, but the migrants received no assistance during that time.
Greek authorities said the accident took place 26 nautical miles southwest of Crete. The boat was initially spotted by a Turkish cargo ship, which then alerted Greek officials.
