Metro53 - LAHORE (Staff Report) -- The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has announced the formation of its Punjab Committee for the 2026-27 term, with senior media professional Farrukh Shahbaz Warraich among the members entrusted with advancing the organisation’s objectives in the province.
According to a statement issued by the CPNE, the committee has been constituted to safeguard the interests of member newspapers and periodicals operating in Punjab and to strengthen the role of the print media sector.
Other members of the committee include Kazim Khan, Irshad, Zulfiqar Ahmed Rahat, Ali Ahmed Dhillon and Tanveer Shaukat.
The committee will work to promote professional standards in print journalism through the organisation of functions, workshops and seminars. It will also assist the CPNE Standing Committee in holding meetings and events across Punjab.
In addition, the committee has been tasked with examining issues related to the press and presenting recommendations to the CPNE Standing Committee. It will also organise programmes aimed at highlighting the importance and role of the press in society.
The announcement was made by the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors as part of its organisational arrangements for the upcoming term.
