Metro53 - Colombia: In a tragic incident in the country’s northern region, a bus carrying schoolchildren plunged into a ravine, resulting in the deaths of 17 students, while 20 others were injured.
The incident was confirmed by Antioquia Governor Andrés Julián, who stated in a post on social media platform X that the bus was traveling from the Caribbean coastal city of Tolú to Medellín.
The bus was carrying students from Antioqueño High School, who were returning from a school trip. According to the governor, the students had been celebrating their graduation at the seaside and were on their way back when the accident occurred.
He described the tragedy, which took place in the month of December, as deeply distressing for the entire community.
Rescue operations were carried out immediately after the accident, and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
