Metro53 - ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) -- Allegations surrounding the future of OIC COMSTECH Coordinator General Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry have triggered a political controversy after senior journalist Rauf Klasra claimed on social media that pressure was being exerted on the scientist to leave office before the completion of his tenure.
In a post on X, Mr Klasra claimed that Prof Chaudhry had declined to resign following an alleged request conveyed through an influential intermediary, after which an inquiry was initiated against him. The post further alleged that former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain had been appointed to oversee the inquiry and suggested that the process was linked to efforts to appoint another individual to the position.

Klasra also questioned the role of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Federal Secretary Shahid Iqbal Baloch, alleging that official actions were being taken with unusual urgency. He further claimed that Prof Chaudhry had submitted a petition to President Asif Ali Zardari challenging the inquiry proceedings.
The allegations made in the social media post could not be independently verified. There has been no official response from the Presidency, the Ministry of Science and Technology, Dr Asim Hussain, or COMSTECH regarding the claims at the time of publication.
