Metro53 - Dhaka (Web Desk):The funeral prayers of prominent Bangladeshi student movement leader Sharif Usman Hadi were offered in Dhaka, followed by his burial amid grief and sorrow.

According to Bangladeshi media, Sharif Usman Hadi, spokesperson of the political platform Inqilab Mancha, had succumbed to his injuries in Singapore after being critically wounded in an attack. His funeral prayers were held at the South Plaza of the Parliament House in Dhaka, where thousands of people, including Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, attended.

Reports said that following the funeral prayers, Sharif Usman Hadi was laid to rest as mourners bid farewell with tearful eyes. His body was brought from Singapore to Dhaka a day earlier. Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus had announced a one-day mourning on his passing.

Sharif Usman Hadi passed away on Thursday night at Singapore General Hospital. He had sustained serious head injuries when attackers opened fire during an election campaign in the Puranapaltan area of Dhaka on December 12.

Initially, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later to Evercare Hospital. On December 15, he was transferred to Singapore for advanced medical treatment, where he later died due to the severity of his injuries.

Sharif Usman Hadi was a key leader of the student movement that led to the overthrow of the Sheikh Hasina government in July 2025 and served as the spokesperson for the student-led political platform Inqilab Mancha.
