Nationwide Protest Announced for February 8 as Aleema Khan Slams Government

Metro53 - Islamabad (Web Desk): Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan, has announced a nationwide protest on February 8, stating that people across the country will take to the streets to demand their rights. She said the protest would represent the voices of citizens whose votes were taken away and who are now determined to reclaim their manda

Talking to the media after a court appearance, Aleema Khan said the public mandate had been ignored and serious questions had been raised over the electoral process. She stated that those whose votes were stolen would not remain silent and would demand their rights through peaceful protest. She made it clear that the entire country would shut down on February 8 and people from all walks of life would participate in the protest.

Aleema Khan alleged that PTI workers face violence and arrests even for taking Imran Khan’s name. She said the behavior of law enforcement agencies had become extremely harsh and workers were being targeted without justification. According to her, police officers appear sympathetic verbally, but in practice, they resort to violence against workers.

Referring to an incident, she said that a minor boy was taken into custody outside Adiala Jail last night merely for mentioning Imran Khan’s name. She said this situation reflects the severe pressure on freedom of expression in the country. She added that police officers repeatedly assure support for Imran Khan, yet workers continue to face violence and arrests.

Aleema Khan further stated that around 400 police personnel were deployed during a rally on Adiala Road. She said that when a child named Najam raised slogans for the release of the PTI founder, the police carried out a heavy baton charge, injuring workers. She alleged that women were also mistreated and dragged during the incident.

In conclusion, Aleema Khan said that Imran Khan represents 250 million people and the voice raised in his support cannot be silenced. She asserted that the struggle would continue and the people would secure their rights, regardless of the sacrifices required.
