Metro53 - Islamabad: A new political party has been formally registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), marking another addition to the country’s political landscape.

According to ECP records, the party has been registered under the name Quran-o-Sunnat Tehreek Pakistan after fulfilling all legal requirements. The commission has approved the party’s registration following scrutiny of the submitted documents.

The ECP has also recognised the party’s intra-party elections, which are a mandatory requirement for registration. According to official information, Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer will serve as the chairman of Quran-o-Sunnat Tehreek Pakistan. With the approval of its intra-party polls, the party has become eligible to participate in electoral politics.

Sources said the party had submitted its constitution, required documentation and other details in line with constitutional and electoral laws, after which the registration process was completed.

It is pertinent to note that the registration of new political parties with the Election Commission is an ongoing process. Earlier in September this year, two other parties — Azad Awam Pakistan Party and Tajdeed-e-Nizam Party — were also registered.

According to an ECP notification, Muhammad Ali was named head of the Azad Awam Pakistan Party, while Khalid Zaman was appointed leader of the Tajdeed-e-Nizam Party. Political observers say the registration of new parties is adding diversity to political activity and providing voters with a wider range of political choices and platforms.
