Metro53 - Mexico City (Web Desk): A small aircraft crashed while attempting an emergency landing in central Mexico, killing seven people, officials said.
According to authorities, the incident occurred in an industrial area of San Mateo Atenco, located about five kilometers from Toluca Airport and approximately 50 kilometers west of Mexico City.
Officials stated that the aircraft had departed from the Pacific coastal city of Acapulco and was attempting to land on a football ground.
During the landing attempt, the aircraft struck the roof of a warehouse, triggering a massive fire. As a precaution, around 130 people from nearby areas were evacuated to safer locations.
At the time of the accident, the aircraft was carrying eight passengers and two crew members. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
