Metro53 - LAHORE (Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former MNA Captain (retd.) Safdar Awan has spoken about his political and personal struggles, saying that his greatest aspiration is to see a judicial system in Pakistan where every citizen has access to justice.
Speaking during a podcast hosted by Farrukh Shahbaz Waraich, Captain Safdar said many of the country’s problems stem from the failure to ensure access to justice for ordinary citizens.
He said that if the law is applied equally to everyone and decisions are made on merit, public confidence in the system can be restored.
Captain Safdar also spoke about the cases, imprisonment and difficult periods he faced during his political journey. He said he had dealt with legal cases at different stages and defended his position before the courts.
He maintained that adherence to the Constitution and the law is a fundamental principle for him. According to Captain Safdar, elected representatives in Parliament have a responsibility not only to legislate but also to raise their voices for the protection of citizens’ fundamental rights.
He said Pakistan had promised a better system at the time of its creation, and fulfilling that promise requires giving fundamental importance to justice, the rule of law and equality before the law.
