Metro53 - LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Sahibzada Farhan as captain of Pakistan's men's T20 squad for the 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Japan.
In a statement, the PCB announced a 15-member squad for the tournament, with 30-year-old Farhan set to lead the side, while Abdul Samad will serve as vice-captain.
The men's T20 International competition at the 2026 Asian Games will begin on September 24 in Aichi, Japan, with cricket medal matches scheduled for October 3.
Farhan brings considerable experience to the role, having scored 1,305 runs in 46 T20 International appearances for Pakistan, including two centuries and ten half-centuries.
The squad also features several emerging players, with Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood in line to make their T20 International debuts for Pakistan.
According to the PCB, 14 of the 15 selected players will also participate in a white-ball training camp beginning in Lahore on June 15 as part of preparations for the continental event.

The squad comprises captain Sahibzada Farhan, vice-captain Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Arafat Minhas, Haider Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Saad Masood, Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem and Usman Khan.
The announcement signals Pakistan's intent to field a competitive side at the Asian Games as it seeks success in the cricket competition returning to the multi-sport event.
