Metro53 - ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert for the country’s northern regions, warning of possible flash floods between June 10 and June 15 due to forecast rainfall and thunderstorms.

According to the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), adverse weather conditions are expected in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where strong winds, thunderstorms and rainfall may trigger localized flooding.

The NDMA warned that heavy precipitation in mountainous areas could lead to a sudden rise in water levels in streams, seasonal waterways and hill torrents, increasing the risk of flash floods in vulnerable locations.

Authorities have identified several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram and Mansehra, as areas where flash flooding may occur.

The disaster management authority has advised local administrations and residents in at-risk regions to remain vigilant, monitor weather updates and take necessary precautionary measures to minimize potential risks to life and property.
