Metro53 - LAHORE: Ali Dar, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Punjab on Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives, has alleged that his family home was looted and converted into a shelter during the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in 2018, when members of the Sharif and Dar families were facing legal and political challenges.

Speaking about the period, Mr Dar said that his family endured significant hardships and that their residence was allegedly occupied and stripped of valuable belongings. He claimed that household items, family possessions, and even door locks were removed from the property.

Among the items allegedly stolen, Mr Dar said, was a piece of the Ghilaf-e-Kaaba (the cloth covering the Holy Kaaba), which he described as one of the most sacred possessions kept in the family home.

He further stated that when the family returned following the 2024 general elections, the house was no longer fit for habitation and had fallen into severe disrepair.

Mr Dar noted that the property had previously been owned by veteran Pakistani actress Deeba, while renowned film star Mohammad Ali had once lived in the same neighbourhood.

Referring to the legal cases faced by members of the Sharif and Dar families, he maintained that the proceedings were politically motivated. He also alleged that former prime minister Imran Khan had made false accusations against him after he expanded his interactions with members of the media.

Mr Dar added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had previously served prison terms during the government of the late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

The claims made by Mr Dar could not be independently verified, and no immediate response was available from PTI regarding the allegations.
