Metro53 - LAHORE: The University of Lahore (UOL) has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Pakistani university to secure a place among the world's top 100 institutions in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, earning the 71st position globally.
The latest rankings also place UOL first among all public and private universities in Pakistan, making it the country's highest-ranked institution in the prestigious global assessment of universities' contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to the rankings, no other Pakistani university featured among the global top 300, underscoring UOL's leadership in sustainability, education, research and community engagement.
UOL delivered exceptional performances across several SDGs, ranking 9th worldwide for Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), 16th for Quality Education (SDG 4) and 18th for Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3).
The university also secured 21st place for Climate Action (SDG 13), 32nd for Zero Hunger (SDG 2), 37th for Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) and 76th for Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
The THE Impact Rankings evaluate universities on their efforts to address global challenges through teaching, research, outreach and institutional practices aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
UOL's latest achievement marks a significant moment for Pakistan's higher education sector, highlighting the growing international recognition of the country's academic institutions for their contributions to sustainable development and societal progress.
