Metro53 - ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for an independent and transparent investigation into the alleged assault case involving foreign women, demanding that all facts be brought before the public and urging Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to resign.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party said the case was not merely a criminal matter but a serious test for Pakistan’s justice system, state institutions and international credibility.

PTI alleged that claims relating to the alleged invitation of foreign nationals to Pakistan under the guise of cryptocurrency ventures, unlawful detention, extortion and other serious offences warranted a thorough, impartial and independent investigation. It said the facts should be established through due legal process and made public.

The party further maintained that if individuals linked to influential political families or government figures were found to be connected to the case, the investigation must remain free from political interference. It said the rule of law required that all individuals be held equally accountable, regardless of their status.

PTI also called upon the Federal Investigation Agency and other relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive forensic audit of the case, including its financial aspects, cryptocurrency transactions, overseas links, alleged money laundering and digital records.

According to the statement, the case has once again raised concerns over whether influential individuals receive preferential treatment under the law. The party urged the government to ensure that investigative agencies are allowed to proceed without pressure or interference.

PTI demanded that Ishaq Dar step down to help ensure the impartiality of the investigation and restore public confidence in the process.

The party concluded by saying that Pakistan’s reputation, the rule of law and justice for any victims should take precedence over political considerations, adding that those found guilty should face strict punishment while anyone proven innocent should also receive justice.
