Metro53 - GUJRAT: Deputy Commissioner Gujrat, Noor-ul-Ain, visited the village of Kot Ghulam on the invitation of local residents to inspect the protective embankment constructed last year and assess its effectiveness in safeguarding the area from flooding.
During the visit, residents appreciated the district administration for completing the embankment in a timely manner, saying the project had significantly reduced the risk of flood damage to the local population. However, they pointed out that riverbank erosion continues in areas away from the settlement, posing a potential threat and highlighting the need for additional protective infrastructure.
Taking notice of the concerns, Deputy Commissioner Noor-ul-Ain directed Executive Engineer Irrigation Muhammad Faisal to carry out an immediate technical survey of the affected riverbank and submit a comprehensive report. The findings, she said, would be used to evaluate the situation and determine the scope of further flood protection measures.
The deputy commissioner reiterated that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remains the district administration's foremost priority. She said all necessary steps would be taken in a timely manner to mitigate potential flood risks and strengthen preparedness ahead of any emergency situation.
