Metro53 - GUJRAT: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has launched a comprehensive pre-monsoon operation across Gujrat to improve the city's sewerage and drainage system ahead of the rainy season.

According to officials, WASA teams are working around the clock to clean and desilt major drains, sewer lines, manholes, and stormwater channels to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater during the monsoon.

The special drive aims to remove blockages and strengthen the city's drainage infrastructure to minimise the risk of urban flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Equipped with modern machinery and additional manpower, WASA teams are carrying out the operation across different parts of the city to provide residents with a cleaner, safer, and more efficient drainage system.

Officials said the initiative reflects the agency's commitment to maintaining public sanitation and ensuring timely rainwater disposal during the upcoming monsoon season. They also urged citizens to avoid disposing of solid waste into drains and sewer lines, warning that such practices can obstruct water flow and hamper drainage operations.
