Metro53 - Gujrat (Web Desk) — In a tragic incident at Jamia Muhammadia Farooqia Rizvia in Shadiwal, unidentified armed assailants opened fire while Sahibzada Allama Muhammad Talha Raza was reciting the Holy Quran, resulting in his martyrdom. He was a prominent religious scholar and member of the local Peace Committee, as well as the son of renowned scholar Allama Maqbool Ahmad.
Allama Talha Raza sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs. He was rushed in critical condition to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss. Upon receiving news of the incident, DPO Gujrat, DSP Sadar Circle, SHO Kunjah Police Station, and the police post in-charge promptly arrived at the scene.
Police registered FIR No. 528/26 following the incident against named suspects Usman Loharan Walia, Qari Muhammad Aslam, Qasim Shah, and Rehan Aslam, along with 4 unidentified accomplices, and initiated legal proceedings. Following the shooting, a large number of local residents and mourners gathered at the hospital, where crowds remained late into the night.
A wave of deep grief and mourning prevails throughout the region over the tragic death of Allama Muhammad Talha Rizvi, with severe shock and anger expressed across religious and public circles of Ahle Sunnat. Police are conducting further investigations.
